July 23, 1997 - Wheat, 240 feet diameter crop circle
"The flowing natural profiles of Wessex chalklands are modified in a thousand places by the blurred and broken remains of prehistoric monuments. Of these, the most remarkable group, in size, variety, and state of preservation, is to be found in Avebury parish, north Wiltshire. In this Avebury group stands the tallest prehistoric Structure in Europe, Silbury Hill."
Michael Dames "The Silbury Treasure" Published by Thames and Hudson 1976
Silbury Hill stands at 130 feet above ground level, and covers almost 5.5 acres at the diamater of its base. It's sloping sides are a near 30 degree angle. Over the past 20 years of crop circle activity, it has been a favorite area for some of the finest examples of crop circles. It is also a favorite spot among crop circle researchers for crop watches and night viewing of the stars and sky.
