Liddington Castle, Wiltshire
July 21, 1999

An aerial shot by Steve Alexander ©1999
On 2nd August 1996, Liddington Castle was the location of a remarkably ornate double-moon formation which established new standards for the precision and beauty of crop lay. This year's formation is unlike anything we have seen before. A formal game, played with concentric circles and three-fold geometry, the shape beautifully maintains the tension between roundness and triangularity.
Though never reaching the qualities of its 1996 predecessor, the formation was beautifully made in strong, closely sown wheat. Once again there was an enigmatic signature, this time perhaps like a man in a small boat. This also has been seen before.
