Hackpen Hill, Wiltshire

July 4, 1999

This stunningly beautiful formation is positioned just below the Hackpen Hill white horse from where it offers an extraordinary sight. A huge and elegant spinner, immaculately formed in wheat, it is over 400' in diameter. The central element is a convex equilateral triangle of about 85' in size. From each of the corners emerge three gigantic plumes, each made of two paths which join, separate and rejoin to form crecents.

The East Meon nested crescent circle of 1995 was perhaps the closest precursor of this magnificent formation. It presents enormous problems to the surveyor, but no doubt accurate drawing will become available in the future.
